Spice Girls - Halliwell Lands Movie Role

SPICE GIRLS star GERI HALLIWELL has landed a role in a new movie opposite THE TRANSPORTER star JASON STATHAM.
The singer has filmed a short appearance in action sequel Crank 2, which is due for release next year (09).
Halliwell previously played herself in 1997’s Spice World and had a minor role in 2001’s Fat Slags. She has also graced the small screen with a guest slot in an episode of Sex and the City.
The singer insists she was delighted to put her acting skills to the test once again.
She tells British magazine Hello, “I have just filmed a small part in the movie Crank 2. I play a chavvy (low-class) mother with a blacked out tooth and look like trailer trash.
“I’m trying to do things that I enjoy, that test my character and which are joyful, creative and funny.”

There’s likely to be a bit of mayhem both on movie screens and in the boxoffice rankings this weekend.

“Tropic Thunder,” an R-rated comedy from DreamWorks/Paramount, unspooled Wednesday to maximize late-summer playtime. But it did so with just a smattering of midnight showtimes, compared with the hundreds of witching-hour screenings that helped Sony’s “Pineapple Express” to a $12 million-plus first day a week ago.

So “Tropic” grossed about $6.5 million in its first day, but executives claim that the Ben Stiller starrer remains capable of a five-day opening close to the $41 million haul by “Pineapple” and suggested that more of its first-week gross will come during the weekend than with the Sony release. DreamWorks/Paramount insiders project “Tropic” — a farcically violent war movie-within-a-comedy — will post a Friday-Sunday gross of about $25 million, compared with “Pineapple’s” $23 million first-weekend take.

Such a performance likely would knock Warner Bros.’ “The Dark Knight” from its four-week roost atop the domestic boxoffice. The Batman sequel is expected to fall 40%-45% from last weekend’s $26 million tally to ring up $14 million or more this session, a performance likely to deliver only a bronze medal for the frame.

Another new film — Warners’ animated feature “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” — could reach north of $20 million on support from the franchise’s fan base and smaller-fry patrons accompanied by parents. Such a performance likely would be good enough for the weekend’s silver medal.

Fox/New Regency’s Kiefer Sutherland-starring horror film “Mirrors” should open in the double-digit millions and is likely to grab the fourth rung in weekend rankings.

“Pineapple” should pick up another $12 million or more during the frame, shaping a sophomore ranking of fifth place or so.

Yet another weekend debutant — Woody Allen’s well-reviewed “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” from MGM and the Weinstein Co. — unspools in more than 700 locations and likely will reach well into the single-digit millions.

Summit Entertainment’s 3-D animated feature “Fly Me to the Moon” opens with 452 playdates — all involving 3-D venues. Although likely to skew younger than “Clone Wars,” “Moon” will bear watching for possible audience overlap with that other animated space flick.

“Moon’s” theater count was limited by a leggier-than-anticipated run by Warners’ 3-D adventure release “Journey to the Center of the Earth.” But the distributor is compensating in part by utilizing more than a dozen Imax institutional venues in addition to many Imax commercial sites and hundreds of RealD digital auditoriums.

Overture’s drama “Henry Poole Is Here” bows in as many as 500 theaters this weekend, but the Luke Wilson starrer appears less certain than the Summit release to reach even the single-digit millions.

In her first interview since losing custody of her children Sean Preston and Jayden James, Britney Spears has said she would rather her children didn’t follow her into a life history in showbiz.

Speaking to OK! Magazine about her their future’s, the pop star said “I’d love them unconditionally if they wanted to,” simply added “I’d just as soon they have a more normal childhood.”

Britney likewise spoke around her thoughts of jr. sister Jamie Lynn Spears, who fell pregnant at 16 and gave birth in June. “I was shocked a little second. She’s always been the baby, and now the baby was having a baby. It was mind-boggling.”

Oasis singer pens John Lennon tribute

Liam Gallagher has written a tribute to John Lennon on the novel Oasis album.

The band’s frontman has stunned fans and even his brother - and bandmate - Noel with the poignant tribute to his hero.

The strain, called I’m Outta Time, features a clip of the former Beatles legend talking in an old interview and is already being tipped for acquittance as a single from new Oasis album Dig out Your Soul.

Noel, wHO is normally reluctant to praise his brother, has admitted Liam is nurturing real songwriting talent.

He told Britain’s NME magazine: “Liam is really good. The thing most Liam is you haven’t heard the half of it. If he could even be bothered to finish some of the songs he started, honestly, they’re amazing.

“But he suffers the execration of the Gallaghers. It’s like: ‘F***ing hell, can’t finish it.’ I’ve got demos of his at home with around 40 tunes which, if he could be daunted, would be amazing.”

Liam - whose eight-year-old son is named Lennon in testimonial to his musical hero - has always been a huge Beatles fan.

The rocker antecedently claimed to have had an out of body experience involving Lennon, and is soundless reported to believe he is haunted by his ghost.

‘I’m Outta Time’ isn’t the first ballad Liam has consecrate to one of his loves.

His 2003 effort Songbird was written for his now-wife Nicole Appleton, and reached phone number three in the UK singles charts.

Liam has also contributed deuce other tracks to Dig out Your Soul, which will be released on October 6.

Waysted was a transitory and rather dark British sonorous metal rig from the mid-’80s. Led by erstwhile UFO bassist Pete Way (thence the spelling of the group’s number), the band’s original carte du jour consisted of another UFO alumni, guitarist/keyboardist Paul Raymond, in summation to guitar player Ronnie Kayfield, drummer Frank Noon, and a crack called Fin on vocals. The group’s members would come and go ofttimes during their brief calling (with Way being the only constant member), as Waysted issued a total of four albums — 1983’s Vices, 1984’s self-titled pass, 1985’s The Good, the Bad, the Waysted, and 1986’s Save Your Prayer — in plus to curtain nurture tours for such noteworthy ’80s metallic element stadium headliners as Dio and Iron Maiden.
