It’s business time - finally - for Kiwi folk-comedy act Flight of the Conchords, who have cleaned up at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.

Making up for their Emmy Awards disappointment earlier this year, the Conchords - Wellington comedians Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement - won four major Tui awards, winning every category they were nominated for.

The band took home Album of the Year, Best Group and Breakthrough Artist of the Year, thanks to their self-titled debut album, released in April.

It hit No. 1 in New Zealand and No. 3 in the US, and featured well-known songs Business Time, Inner City Pressure and The Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room), tracks taken from their hit HBO show Flight of the Conchords.

The Conchords, who weren’t at the star-studded ceremony at Auckland’s Vector Arena, also shared the award for International Achievement with rapper Savage, who is experiencing success in the US with his hit single Swing.

Auckland-based rock band OpShop also took home four awards: Single of the Year and Highest Selling NZ Single for their Apra Silver Scroll-winning song One Day; Radio Airplay Record of the Year for the single Maybe, and Highest Selling NZ Album for their second record Second Hand Planet.

Hot favourite Tiki Taane, nominated for six major awards, went home with just one Tui - Best Aotearoa Roots Album for his debut solo record Past, Present, Future.

Wellington rock act Shihad received the Tui for Best Rock Album for their latest record Beautiful Machine, while Scribe won Best Urban/Hip-Hop Album for his second record, Rhymebook.

Liam Finn, the son of Crowded House’s Neil Finn, was awarded Best Male Solo Artist, and Anika Moa won Best Female Solo artist.

Director Ian Hart won Best Music Video for The Brunettes’ Her Hairagami Set, while Recloose won Best Electronica/Dance Album for Perfect Timing.

The People’s Choice Award went to the Parachute Band.

The show also honoured Straitjacket Fits, who received the Legacy Award and were inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.
